The Pretenders Played Metal Covers With Bill Burr On Drums At His Comedy Show

Stereogum Comedian Bill Burr has already made his case for rock lineage by possibly being Billy Corgan’s brother. Now, he’s proving rock ‘n’ roll runs through his veins by playing some classic tunes with British legends the Pretenders. more info

SG Lewis – “Sugar” (Feat. Shygirl)

Stereogum The UK producer SG Lewis has been making joyously playful club music for a long time. Last year, he and Tove Lo released the collaborative EP “Heat,” and he teamed up with likeminded dance explorer Shygirl on “mr useless,” the biggest underground hit on her first Club Shy EP. Later this year, Lewis will release a new solo album called Anemoia, named after the feeling of nostalgia for a thing that you never directly experienced in the first place. On the LP track “Sugar,” Lewis and Shygirl are back together again. more info

Hear Mick Jagger On Burna Boy’s New Song “Empty Chairs”

Stereogum Compared to most octogenarians, Mick Jagger seems to have a pretty good grasp of contemporary popular music. (I’m sure having a girlfriend 40 years his junior helps.) A couple years ago, he praised Machine Gun Kelly and Yungblud for having a nice “post-punk vibe” that brought “a bit of life” to rock music. Now Jagger is branching out from rock ‘n’ roll: The Rolling Stones frontman provides guest vocals on “Empty Chairs,” a song from Nigerian Afrobreats star Burna Boy’s new album No Sign Of Weakness. more info

Watch The Trailer For The New Billy Joel Documentary And So It Goes

Stereogum Way back in 1982, when cable television was new, the Home Box Office network ran the Billy Joel concert special Live From Long Island. Now, HBO is back in the Billy Joel business, in a very different way. Earlier this year, HBO Max — that’s what it’s once again calling itself — announced plans for a two-part Billy Joel documentary called And So It Goes. (Since then, Joel canceled all of his planned concerts because of a brain condition, though he assures Howard Stern that he’s “not dying.”) The first part of the doc debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival last week, and it’ll stream next week. It reportedly gets into some very gnarly moments in Joel’s history. more info

Smashing Pumpkins Soundtrack Margiela Show, Get Sampled By Homixide Gang

Stereogum Glenn Martens’ debut as creative director for Maison Margiela was beautiful and claustrophobic: Models wore crystallized Saran wrap dresses, bejeweled face shields, and industrial gothic armor. Fittingly, part of the show was soundtracked by the Smashing Pumpkins, specifically an acapella and then original version of Siamese Dream‘s “Disarm.” Billy Corgan also attended the show with his wife Chloe Mendel Corgan. It seemed like a gothic and gloomy marriage of fashion and rock ‘n’ roll. more info
