Jane’s Addiction Members Sue Perry Farrell Over Onstage Fight

Stereogum Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins have filed a lawsuit against their Jane’s Addiction bandmate Perry Farrell, Rolling Stone reports. Last September, the classic lineup’s reunion tour was cut short after Farrell, the frontman, started an onstage fight with Navarro, the guitarist, in the middle of their Boston show. Jane’s have yet to formally announce their breakup, but a guitar tech from that ill-fated show said they were “over,” which Navarro seemed to confirm interview earlier this year. This new lawsuit corroborates those sentiments. more info

Wooter – “Blades in the Grass”

Obscure SoundA delectably woozy, hypnotic gem of a track from Wooter, “Blades in the Grass” rides on a head-nodding bass pulse, glimmering synth touches, and heady guitar swells. The project represents the work of Brooklyn-based artist and producer Rowan Brind, whose serenely gripping vocals also lend a riveting character, hazy and ruminating in their composure. Wooter first caught our attention in 2002 with the track “Epigraph.” The meditative fusing of psychedelic rock and pop persists with a stylish entrancement throughout, while Brind’s vocal delivery is reminiscent of Damon Albarn’s more hypnotic, 13-era successes. “Blades in the Grass” comes ahead of Wooter’s The post Wooter – “Blades in the Grass” appeared first on Obscure Sound: Indie Music Blog. more info

VASILIKÍ – “Vanilla Sky”

Obscure SoundA consuming production with dynamic appeal — from spacey synths to twangy guitars and string-laden mystique — “Vanilla Sky” is a thorough success from VASILIKÍ, an artist originally from Athens, Greece and now based in NYC. She first caught our ears last summer with the magnetic re-imagining of Modern Talking’s “Cheri Cheri Lady.” Playful synths and dreamy vocals ring out a throwback stylishness, strutting an ’80s dance-pop flair. Moody guitar tones invoke shades of post-punk, while the “you have moved on” vocal admissions thereafter compel within a galloping pop allure; it doesn’t take long for the production to unveil its The post VASILIKÍ – “Vanilla Sky” appeared first on Obscure Sound: Indie Music Blog. more info

Caleb L’Etoile – “AW HELL”

Obscure SoundOne of many successes on Caleb L’Etoile‘s new album American Death, “AW HELL” channels an impassioned rock fervency — existing within a “religious trauma/doomsayer genre as informed by current events,” per the Virginia-based artist. Panting percussion and twangy guitars build with enjoyable momentum, as L’Etoile’s vocals escalate with ferociously artful appeal. “I mean, look at this shit, and he just shook his head,” continues a sense of reckoning, conversing with God and wondering WTF — aesthetically reminding fondly of vintage Modest Mouse in its ferocious rock appeal. “You can pray all you want, but you got what you wanted,” his The post Caleb L’Etoile – “AW HELL” appeared first on Obscure Sound: Indie Music Blog. more info

Sunset Station – “Dancing in the Graveyard”

Obscure SoundImmersing in its blend of gothic post-punk mystique and danceable hookiness, “Dancing in the Graveyard” is a compelling track from Salt Lake City-based rockers Sunset Station. The track takes inspiration from the novel Blood Meridian, in addition to early post-punk — and The Cure’s 1981 album Faith in particular. As the band describes: “This song lives in the space between sorrow and movement — a ghost watching from below while the living keep dancing above.” Catching our ears a few months ago with the track “Decoys,” “Dancing in the Graveyard” continues the band’s penchant for quality songwriting — this time The post Sunset Station – “Dancing in the Graveyard” appeared first on Obscure Sound: Indie Music Blog. more info
