The first pin-your-ears-back moment came on a song I'd heard thousands of times. I put on 'Revolution' from the triple-disc 'Mono Masters' record inside the new 'The Beatles in Mono' vinyl boxed set. The heavily distorted guitars exploded out of the speakers like a nuclear blast, then Ringo's drum crack and Lennon's scream tore through the din. I felt like that guy in the old Maxell ads with his hair blown back by the sound.
