M. Ward pumps it up

On record, M. Ward is known for creating a dreamy atmosphere, his songs often crackling as though they're emanating from dusty, 78-r.p.m. vinyl. But despite the fact that his four bandmates resembled a pack of 1930s grifters, the Portland-based musician's Sunday performance at a sold-out Vic Theatre sounded anything but out-of-time.
