Songwriters conference at Foothill yields a crop of spinoff area performances

This weekend the West Coast Songwriters Association's "Up Close and Personal" Music Conference takes over Foothill College, bringing together about 220 aspiring composers with many leading music-business figures, such as singer-songwriter Gretchen Peters and San Rafael-based drummer, producer and composer Narada Michael Walden. The event itself isn't open to the public, but several of the artists featured are also performing in the area.
