South African Singer Miriam Makeba R.I.P.

Grammy-winning South African singer and apartheid fighter Miriam Makeba died last night (November 9) at the age of 76. According to BBC News and her website, Makeba suffered a heart attack after playing a concert in the southern Italian town of Castel Volturno.Makeba, known as "Mama Africa" and the "Empress of African Song", rose to prominence in the 1950s as a vocalist for the Manhattan Brothers.
