The Roots rock out at San Jose State

Champagne, Pop Rocks and vegan barbecue might all be tasty, but they don"t necessarily make a satisfying meal. That was the effect of the show Saturday at San Jose State, in which smooth British newcomer Estelle and rambunctious rap-rock crew Gym Class Heroes came out before the main course: the artfully funky Roots. The headlining Philadelphia group made sure no one left the Event Center hungry, though the combination made a few fans audibly queasy.
