Zacharias leads Schumann, Beethoven, Bach

A cursory look at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's program this weekend suggests the same-old same-old. But closer inspection of the works led by the German pianist-conductor Christian Zacharias reveals two rarities and one of Beethoven's least played symphonies. Friday morning's concert was like a pleasant stroll through a familiar neighborhood on unfamiliar streets.
