"Adventureland" Triggers Memories Intentionally, Unintentionally [I Can Hear The Log Flume Splashing As One]
I was already predisposed to like the upcoming movie Adventureland when I found out that the titular amusement park is the very one in Farmingdale, N.Y. where I spent no small amount of time when I was a kid. The hazy set of memories that revelation summoned is just the sort of effect the movie is trying to avoid, despite being set in the 80s, and it's leaning heavily on its soundtrack as a way of accomplishing a sort of timelessness.
