'Lucy In The Sky' inspiration loses fight with Lupus

The woman who inspired The Beatles' "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" has died after battling the immune-system disease Lupus, according to the BBC. Lucy Vodden, who was 46 at the time of her death, was a nursery school classmate of John Lennon's son Julian. Despite the rumored LSD references, the song apparently was written after Julian brought home a picture he had drawn of his young friend, telling his dad: "It's Lucy in the sky with diamonds."
