Amos Lee's soulful touch

Philadelphia native Amos Lee took a lengthy break from touring to craft the songs for his soulful new release "Mission Bell" ( * * * out of four stars, out Jan. 25 on Blue Note), which includes contributions from Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams and Iron and Wine's Sam Beam. Produced by Joey Burns of the acclaimed indie-rock band Calexico, "Mission Bell" is rich in atmosphere and contains some of the most personal material in the singer-songwriter's career.
