BLK JKS: South African group to perform at Chicago's World Music Festival

Vampire Weekend, Dirty Projectors and Yeasayer lead a wave of American bands blending rock with second-hand references to African music. But the currency goes both ways, as BLK JKS (pronounced "black jacks") offers a uniquely South African perspective on the underground sounds of the West. The quartet will be one of the primary attractions at the World Music Festival, which starts Friday and runs through next Thursday at clubs citywide (see Howard Reich preview, page 12) .
