Branford Marsalis talks classical music, jazz and playing with the Grateful Dead and Public Enemy

Saxophone star Branford Marsalis has cited several reasons over the years for his decision to step down in 1995 from his high-profile position as the music director and band leader on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno ." They included the need to spend more time with his family, a desire to tour with his genre-leaping band - the now-defunct Buckshot LaFonque - and his reluctance to continue being Leno's happy-go-lucky comedic foil.
