Emerson String Quartet finishes concert with a brilliant Debussy
Claude Debussy String Quartet, which closed the celebrated Emerson String Quartet's concert Saturday in a rush of feverish intensity, was written 118 years ago in 1893. But the music sounded so fresh and timelessly modern that it brought to mind something critic and composer Virgil Thomson wrote about the French composer in 1948:
