France celebrates Soulages, 'painter of black and white'
Oils, inks and acrylics of all sizes but almost all in black go on show as France celebrates its best-known living artist, Pierre Soulages, an abstract painter obsessed with the power of black. Some 100 works spanning his career are on show at the Pompidou Centre in Paris until next March.
