Free music festival with French roots makes its San Jose debut
Since François Mitterrand's government created the Fête de la Musique holiday in 1982, it has spread around the world, with more than 500 cities in 100 countries joining in. San Jose participates for the first time on June 20, hosting a free, all-day celebration at Santana Row. A Palo Alto celebration takes place June 21.
