Seattle SO/SchwarzNaxosHoward Hanson (1896-1981) is probably best remembered as one of the US's most important music educators – he was head of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, for 40 years. But he was a prolific composer, too, with an output that included seven symphonies.
