Southern rock fans still love Lynyrd Skynyrd, even after all these years. Classic tracks such as "Sweet Home Alabama," "That Smell" and "Free Bird" combine melody, message and scorching guitar work. A plane crash in 1977 killed lead singer Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Steve Gaines, while founding pianist Billy Powell and newer bass player Ean Evans died last year. But the group has forged on.
