Tony Cash (Letters, 23 June) is right to say that Paul McCartney's melodies are better than Bob Dylan's. Indeed, Dylan himself has admitted to being "in awe" of McCartney as a tunesmith. However, to say that McCartney's songs lend themselves to more interpretations is "deeply wrong-headed".
