Lynyrd Skynyrd bassist Donald "Ean" Evans died Wednesday (5/6) at his home in eastern Mississippi after battling an aggressive form of cancer, according to a statement posted on the band's website. He was 48.
Evans, a native of Atlanta, was asked to join the Southern rock band in 2001 after the death of Leon Wilkeson, according to Evans' bio. He toured regularly with the band until his 2008 cancer diagnosis.
