Maroon 5 works hard to make great pop music -- as a group

Maroon 5 vocalist Adam Levine has looked on bemusedly over the years as reviewers have labored to label his band. The comparisons have been as colorful as they are varied: Hall & Oates, Stevie Wonder, the Police, Prince, Huey Lewis, even modern peers such as Jamiroquai and Coldplay. None of them wholly inaccurate, but none quite nailing it either.
