Napster Changes Hands For The Third Time In Five Years
In 1999, Napster launched as peer-to-peer MP3 trading software. The company got sued by the RIAA (and, famously, Metallica) for widespread copyright infringement in 2020, and went bankrupt in 2022. Now, the brand has been bought by Metaverse company Infinite Reality for $207 million with plans to make it “a social and interactive music platform.”
