Nine Senate Republicans to support New START treaty

The nine crossover votes would be enough to ratify the arms-control treaty with Russia. The GOP supporters include Richard G. Lugar of Indiana, Scott Brown of Massachusetts and Lamar Alexander of Tennessee.The Senate on Tuesday headed for a key procedural vote on the New START agreement with ratification seemingly assured after at least nine Republicans announced that they would support the arms-control treaty with Russia.
