On its new album, Flogging Molly puts its Celtic stamp on Detroit's gritty story

At first, the graffiti inscription was as maddening as it was jarring: Along I-75, heading south into Detroit, was the unknown tagger's declaration of resignation: "SHUT 'EM DOWN." But for vocalist-guitarist Dave King and fiddler Bridget Regan, the husband-wife team at the heart of the band Flogging Molly, the message became a challenge.
