Philip Glass and Robert Wilson's 'Einstein on the Beach' arrives on the West Coast 36 years after its world premiere

A 41/2-hour 'opera' with no narrative, no orchestra, no arias and no intermission, composer Philip Glass and director Robert Wilson's 'Einstein on the Beach' is best described as a spectacle -- an imaginary landscape of music, dance, gesture and light. The current touring production is likely the last to unite Glass, Wilson and choreographer Lucinda Childs.
