Rap radio pioneer Mr. Magic dies

Influential hip-hop radio DJ Mr. Magic died Friday (10/2) of a heart attack, according to the New York Daily News. He was 53.The DJ, born John Rivas, is credited with launching and hosting the first all-rap radio show in the US. Titled "Rap Attack," the program debuted in 1983 on New York radio station WBLS and quickly became cited as an inspiration for key players in the business.
