Review: Mason Bates's 'B-Sides' with Beethoven's Seventh

Wednesday's opening of the San Francisco Symphony's 'Beethoven and Bates' festival gave the audience a sense of 'This is how it should be in the concert world,' with a great orchestra showing (and enjoying) its command of both new (Bates) and old (Beethoven) repertory in a single concert.
