András Schiff (ECM, two CDs)The accompanying notes give no reason why András Schiff has assembled these particular works by Schumann into a two-disc set. They also offer no clues as to why, alongside well-known works, he has included the composer's last completed piano piece, the so-called Ghost Variations, whose theme, Schumann claimed, had been dictated to him by an angel.
