Slatkin returns to podium in fine form

A feeling of celebration swept through Orchestra Hall on Thursday, as if the Detroit Symphony Orchestra were beginning yet another season. In a way it was: Music director Leonard Slatkin was back on the podium in Detroit for the first time since having a heart attack while conducting in the Netherlands on Nov. 1.
