The legendary doom metal group Sleep broke up in 1997 after releasing a couple of stone classics (uh, no pun intended). Guitarist Matt Pike went on to lead High on Fire, and the rhythm section of Al Cisneros and Chris Hakius became the slow-creeping duo Om. So: a great band became a couple of really good bands.
