The video for Violet Hill is insanely handsome in terms of realization of a post-colonial Napoleonism. However bombastic and dramatic the lead single is, I think Coldplay are afraid of play it all out on the table. The video has not exactly been filmed with 100% sincerity and seriosity, but the quirks and traces of humour that can be spotted throughout the video still come across spicy ingredients of an incomparable rock video of the century.
