ceo’s Version of Beyonce’s “Halo”

Yesterday with a 7” and a new video, ceo released this cover of Beyonce’s “Halo” as a glorious b-side. It begins unexpectedly with meandering acoustic guitar, like a 70s rock ballad, but then the guitar pedal is tapped and an ethereal rocket shoots you off into an atmosphere of subtle brass fanfare and electronic percussion. ceo has layered his voice under some of the bombast, which aids in dulling the raw and open notes that Beyonce practically shouts in the original.
